Finland is an interesting investment target of global renown for international hi-tech companies and research organisations. By 2015, dozens of new market leading companies will have been created in Finland, based on new innovations, and operating in significant, growing market segments.
From a perspective of office facilities and service structure, the TEKEL network represents the top of the international scale in science park activity and expertise. Science parks are regional and international magnets, and operate as targets to attract international investment. The centres, which are specialised in different fields of business, operate as environments that efficiently foster the creation and development of technology- and skills-based cluster activity.
TEKEL
TEKEL is an umbrella organisation for Finnish science parks. Key to its operations are the creation and development of technology- and skills-based business and growth companies, the safeguarding of their competitiveness and increase in their numbers.
TEKEL acts as an expert in and promoter of science park activities, and as a national coordinator of network-based co-operation. The organisation creates and maintains connections with the public sector, the business community, the education and research sectors and international networks in the field.
The technology centres in the TEKEL network participate in the implementation of national programmes related to their specific fields of specialisation. TEKEL coordinates the use of such centres as locations for international pilot schemes.
