Firstbeat Technologies, Incubator Company of the Year 2004, analyses the heart beat

In 2004, Firstbeat Technologies Ltd was voted Incubator Company of the Year. The company, which is based in Jyväskylä Science Park, has developed a method of analysis based on heart beat measurement, for monitoring the strain of work, stress and recovery. The method can be utilised in physical exercise, coaching and weight management. These products, based on strong scientific research, have great potential in the international market.

Highly commended in the competition was 4Pharma Ltd. This company offers pharmaceutical companies a wide range of products especially for data management, data warehousing and data analysis. 4Pharma Ltd, which has now moved out of the incubator, has also started up export business.

The Incubator Company of the Year 2004 was chosen by the Business Development Department of the Finnish Science Park Association TEKEL. In addition to a strong business idea, the selection criteria also emphasised rapid growth during the incubator stage. Product development, number of customers, development of turnover and internationalisation were also taken into account. A further requirement was active co-operation with the incubator, and a maximum period of operation of three years.
